I was on the phone with a friend earlier. This lovely woman has spent the last year overseas and is less than two weeks from coming home. She asked me how things were going in this small portion of our world and I started speaking to her about Springtime. I notice that recently it’s been Spring that I reference when people ask how I am, or what’s new in my life. It’s as if the changing seasons that have taken over my self awareness. In fact, over the past couple of grey weeks, I have come to think that many of us are quick to speak about Spring in breathless tones of hope. My Mother-in-Law aptly calls it a “new smell in the air”. Even though it’s still cold, even though there’s snow on the ground in many places, there’s a new smell in the air. We all know it. It’s the smell of Spring.
And today, I saw Spring in real yellow and green. The first crocus of 2011. So this has prompted me to start a baby series – Signs of Spring. I’ll try to post often, capturing as much of the changes as I can. Here’s the first one. And wow, does it ever make my heart feel like bursting with happiness. Goodbye, grey cold Winter. Hello, bright and beautiful Spring.
And a shot of coffee doesn’t hurt anyone. Coffee makes me dance around the kitchen singing Honeymoon Suite’s “Stay in the Light”, just like Springtime. Stay in the Light
